On 12 April, the Jelenia Góra Regional Court handed down its verdict in the case of 33-year-old Piotr G., whom the Zgorzelec prosecutor’s office charged with the murder with particular cruelty of Pascal B. and Tomasz K.

In accordance with the prosecutor’s motion, the court sentenced G. to life imprisonment. The man will only be eligible to apply for parole after 35 years.

The crime took place on the morning of 13 April 2015, in a gaming arcade in Zgorzelec. After entering, Piotr G. doused the two young men present, Tomasz K. and Pascal B., with a flammable liquid and then caused an explosion. The victims suffered extensive burns, as a result of which they died.

G. was arrested by police officers later that same day. He was subsequently placed in pre-trial detention, which was extended.

The indictment was submitted to the court on 25 January 2016. The verdict is not final.
