The IstotneInformacje.pl website conducted a poll asking readers to assess the surveillance system. A total of 608 votes were cast. 56% of voters said that surveillance effectively improves safety in the city. 39% considered it ineffective, while 5% of poll participants had no opinion on the matter.

The surveillance cameras were installed based on a map of black spots in the city prepared by the police. Municipal Police officers monitor, among other places, the Bolesławiec market square, Piłsudskiego and Popiełuszki squares, the Kwiatowe housing estate, and the intersection of Cieszkowskiego and Staszica streets. The cameras operate around the clock, seven days a week. The monitoring center is located at the Municipal Police headquarters on Mikołaja Brody Street.

Each month, the municipal government allocates PLN 7,000–8,000 for operating the surveillance system. Thanks to the system, several perpetrators of assaults have been apprehended, and the people washing car windows disappeared from the intersection of Cieszkowskiego and Staszica streets.

We thank everyone who voted in the poll about the effectiveness of the surveillance system. At the same time, we invite you to vote in a new poll, in which we asked: "Should the BOK be abolished and specific projects carried out by independent individuals be co-financed?"
