County officials: “The overriding aim is to establish a Family Children’s Home in Bolesławiec County that will provide children with partial or full care and upbringing in conditions similar to those of a family home. A Family Children’s Home generally cares for between 4 and 8 children; it may be run in a private apartment or house belonging to the family, or in a property owned by the county or the managing authority.”

A Family Children’s Home is intended to create an atmosphere conducive to children’s sense of security, stability and proper development. Children remain in a Family Children’s Home until they return to their family, their legal situation is resolved and they are adopted, or until they reach adulthood, with the possibility of extending care until they finish the school they attend. People who wish to run a Family Children’s Home must have at least secondary education, have no criminal record, be in good health enabling them to care for children, and complete training at the Powiatowe Centrum Pomocy Rodzinie in Bolesławiec to obtain the required qualifications.

  • to cover the maintenance costs of a child placed there – no less than PLN 1,000.00 per month
  • for a child with a disability certificate or a certificate of significant or moderate disability – an allowance of no less than PLN 200.00 per month to cover the increased costs of maintaining the child (the above benefits are also available after the child reaches adulthood if the child remains in that foster family)
