Another success for the young mathematicians from Gimnazjum Samorządowe nr 1 in Bolesławiec. The students from “Jedynka”, who took part in the Lower Silesian Mathematical Matches, once again proved to be the best in our city and, with the third-best result in the voivodeship (out of 104 teams), advanced to the next stage of the competition. The Lower Silesian Mathematical Matches are a competition organized by the Wrocław Mathematicians Foundation and the Mathematical Institute of the University of Wrocław. The matches are not only an interesting competition, but also an exceptional opportunity to learn mathematics, develop the skills of presenting arguments and solutions, carefully following lines of reasoning and finding errors in them. They also teach teamwork. The match problems differ from stereotypical textbook exercises. They are interesting and vary in difficulty, which allows different game strategies to be used.
