Half of the winter holidays is behind us. Policewomen from the Social Prevention Team, together with community officers from the Police Station in Ścinawa and the District Police Headquarters in Lubin, visited children spending their free time at home or at day camps organised in Lubin County.
Although the winter weather during this year's holidays has not been favourable, the officers reminded the children of safety rules during winter activities. The uniformed officers also addressed other important topics:
- safety when in contact with a stranger or a dog
- appropriate behaviour in difficult situations (a reminder of the emergency numbers: 112, 997, 998, 999)
- traffic lights
- appropriate ways to spend free time and safe play
- skiing, sledding, cycling, skateboarding and rollerblading (helmets and protective gear)
- playing in the snow near icicles and overhanging snow
- crossing the road at designated places and behaving properly on the pavement
- travelling by car (in a car: fastening seat belts/using a child seat; on a bus: boarding and getting off on the pavement or roadside side).
Thanks to financial support from the KGHM Polska Miedź Foundation, the police officers handed out reflective tags, self-fastening bands and vests so that the children would always be visible on the road. In addition to these items, the youngest participants received educational booklets and colouring books containing important safety information.
