A reader of our portal etta spotted and photographed a beautifully colored bird at the town pond by the popular Łajba . This exotic and colorful bird is a male duck of the Mandarin species. It is not known how the Mandarin ended up in Bolesławiec. Perhaps it escaped from a breeder. These birds are kept because of their beautiful coloring.
It is known that the drake had been swimming in the town pond for the past several days, delighting passers-by with its coloring. Unfortunately, we were unable to photograph it ourselves (on Thursday, February 16, before noon). Perhaps it got bored with the town pond and flew off to look for another place. Or perhaps it did not find a suitable mate in Bolesławiec and is looking for one elsewhere.
Mandarin ducks originate from and inhabit areas of East Asia. The males of this species are distinguished by their beautiful coloring, which is most intense during the mating season.

Readers of istotne.pl report that the colorful drake is still swimming in the pond by Łajba. This means that its absence on Thursday morning was only temporary.
