Primary School No. 1 in Bolesławiec is achieving further successes. On Wednesday, October 8, the school received the prestigious “School with Tradition” certificate. “This is the culmination of the work of many people: coaches, parents and, above all, our children,” Kornel Filipowicz told the IstotneInformacje.pl portal. Kornel Filipowicz, the headmaster of SP No. 1.
For years, the school has consistently pursued sports-school status. A new gymnasium is to be built in 2010. This year, a class with an extended physical education program was established. Moreover, on October 9, a cooperation agreement was signed between SP No. 1 and a school in Jablonne (Czech Republic).
“It is a great day for the school,” says Magdalena Czyżewska, former chair of the Parents’ Council at SP No. 1. – “The children will have the opportunity to learn about another country and culture, as well as develop their sporting abilities and make new friends.”
As Jindrich Drab, head of the Czech school, explains, signing the agreement was a natural next step – both schools focus primarily on sports education. The cooperation is to involve organizing events, camps, competitions and tournaments. “This expands our educational offering,” says Filipowicz. He adds that he would like SP No. 1 to be perceived as a place where children can develop their talents – not only in sports.
