We have bad news for drivers using the bridge in Świętoszów. From February 1, the bridge will be closed to motor traffic. For now, only pedestrians and people riding two-wheeled vehicles will be allowed to use the bridge. Renovation of the bridge in Świętoszów may take 1.5 years.

Until it reopens, this means major difficulties. For example, drivers traveling from Bolesławiec to Świętoszów will be forced to use a detour through Żagań, extending the current route from approximately 30 km each way to approximately 75 km (the detour via Trzebień–A18–Żagań).

An alternative for passenger-car drivers is to use a local (unofficial) detour through the village of Łozy (Lubusz Voivodeship). Unfortunately, this road is narrow, full of potholes and partly unpaved.

Below is information from the Bolesławiec County Office:

Change in traffic organization on county road no. 2271D

Dear Sir or Madam, for the duration of construction of bridges over the Kwisa River along the county road from Bolesławiec to Świętoszów, a detour will be introduced from February 1 of this year. The detour will run from the Luboszów junction toward Iłowa and Żagań, and then onward to Rudawice and Świętoszów.

We remind you that this is the largest road investment in the history of Bolesławiec County, with a value of over PLN 26 million. The reconstruction of 22 km of road will include demolishing two old bridges located in Świętoszów and building new ones. They will replace the old temporary crossings and significantly improve transport links between Świętoszów (the stationing location of the 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade), Osiecznica and Bolesławiec, shortening the route compared with the detour by more than 5 km.

The project will be financed in large part by the Regional Operational Programme of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship for 2014–2020.
