Before calling a professional
If the hob has stopped heating, the first thing to check is its connection to the power supply. The timer may have been switched on and caused the cooker to turn off after a certain amount of time – sometimes we simply forget about such things. The cause of the problem may also be overheating. It is recommended that you disconnect the hob from the power supply. You should wait until the appliance has cooled down and then reconnect it. It may also turn out that an error is being displayed. It is worth keeping the appliance manual close at hand, as not every problem requires calling in a specialist.
Incorrect connection of the induction hob
Contrary to appearances, incorrect connection of an induction hob is a fairly common mistake, usually resulting from inattention and routine. Manufacturers do not use standardised colour markings for cables, so they should be checked when connecting the appliance. If you try to do it by force without consulting the manual, a mistake is highly likely. Correct connection deserves particular attention because failing to do so may result in damage to the induction hob.
Circuit breakers tripping
Sometimes the induction hob is responsible for circuit breakers tripping. The most commonplace cause is not the hob itself, but the circuit breakers, which are too weak. The values recommended by the manufacturer can be found in the operating manual and should be followed. Other causes of failure include damaged transistors and rectifier bridges. Some time ago, a series of induction hobs was available on the market in which the transistors burned out when a pot was placed over two cooking zones. Although such situations should not occur, it is always safer to place the pot on a single zone.
Control module failure
In induction hobs, problems related to the control module are among the most common failures. Typical faults include error messages and a lack of response to touch. One or more zones may stop heating, but the hob may also switch off by itself or fail to turn on at all. These faults require the induction hob’s modules to be replaced. Damage to even a single module can prove extremely costly, and repairing it may be uneconomical, as its value is sometimes estimated at 50% of the price of the entire appliance. Nevertheless, before making a decision, you should contact experts, for example from RestartAgd.pl, who will identify the cause of the failure and provide a cost estimate. It should be remembered that the replaced module may function without any problems for at least several years, or even longer, so it is worth considering whether buying a new induction hob is really necessary. However, if the entire control module is not working, you simply need to go to a shop.
Cracked hob glass
Cracked induction hob glass leaves no other option than replacing the entire hob. If it is the cause of the failure, there is no other solution, because the replacement cost is equal to the price of a completely new hob.
