In the case of the panda, otter and camel, this is definitely simple: the animals are large and difficult to overlook. With the lively family of sixteen banded mongooses, it is not so easy. The animal keepers often have to start counting from the beginning. It is equally complicated in the case of parrots and small rodents. It is completely impossible to accurately count the entire shoal of fish, all the inhabitants of the pond and some invertebrates, which ultimately receive the note “uncountable” animal species.

Nasze Zoo is currently home to 563 animals representing 93 different species. Compared with the previous year, this is 18 more animals and 10 fewer species. “To make more space available for the animals, we transferred some species, primarily small rodents and reptiles, to other zoological gardens,” zoo staff say. “The jay thrush, as well as dwarf and filter-feeding shrimp, joined the collection as new species; beetles, the leopard gecko, the eastern vole and some duck species left.”
