On Tuesday, December 27, at around 1:40 p.m., a patrol checking the area around Obrońców Helu noticed four underage people setting off firecrackers. About 40 firecrackers, both noise-making and flash types, were found on the boys. The boys were taken to the Bolesławiec Municipal Police Headquarters, from where their parents collected them.

That same day, at around 3:15 p.m., the Municipal Police duty officer received a report that three young people were setting off firecrackers at the playground on Łukasiewicza Street. The patrol went to the scene. Once again, it turned out that they were underage. The boys had approximately 100 pyrotechnic items with them. They were handed over to their parents.

What is more, it emerged that in both cases the young people had bought the aforementioned materials without the slightest problem near one of the shopping centers. The Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters is conducting further proceedings in the matter.

Let us recall that, under the applicable provisions of Polish law, the use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices in public places is prohibited, except for restrictions on December 31 and January 1 of each year. Furthermore, pyrotechnic products may be used only by adults. Selling them to minors is punishable by a fine, restriction of liberty, or imprisonment for up to 2 years.
