“We have been trying for a long time to have our own headquarters,” District Governor Cezary Przybylski said during Wednesday’s City Council session. “This headquarters is not intended to make things more convenient for officials, but to ensure that clients are served in the best possible conditions,” he added.
On September 24, City Council members adopted a resolution on the matter. Nineteen voted in favor, while Lesław Śliwko abstained. Currently, officials of Bolesławiec County receive visitors in three buildings: the round building, the high-rise and the building on Zwycięstwa Street. Thanks to the donation, all departments will be housed in one facility—the former middle school at 12 Armii Krajowej Street.
The new location has many advantages. It is close to Bolesławiec City Hall, the municipal office, and both the bus and railway stations. At the October session of the District Council, a decision is expected on what the district authorities will do with the former middle-school building—whether they will demolish it and build an entirely new facility or renovate the old one.
To finance the construction of the new headquarters, the district authorities intend to sell the round building and the building on Zwycięstwa Street. It will also be necessary to take out a loan. However, the new office building will not be completed for use earlier than in 2–3 years.
