The area of the amphitheater (measured along the outline of the embankments and stage) is 1,677.54 sq m. The worn benches, stairs, walkways and stage were rebuilt and modernized. The new seating areas and the stage foundation are made of concrete. The seats have been covered with strips of exotic wood. Lighting was installed on the sides of the seating areas. The amphitheater has 400 seats. The area of the stands with embankments and side stairs is 1,317.12 sq m.

The stair platforms are made of sandstone. The railings are made of stainless-steel pipes. The stage edge cladding and stair plinths are made of sandstone. The stage has an area of 263.45 sq m. Its surface is covered with green, non-slip epoxy resin. The grounds are illuminated by new street lamps. Shrubs have been planted on the embankment behind the amphitheater seating area. The facility is monitored.

The project was designed by Dorota Kluczyńska from Bolesławiec. The contractor is BBI Budownictwo from Wrocław. The project is being carried out under the INTERREG Poland–Saxony 2014–2020 Cooperation Programme. The project value is PLN 1,385,085.14, including PLN 207,762.77 from the city budget. The subsidy amounts to 85%; external funds total PLN 1,177,322.37.

“In spring, when temperatures are above freezing, the stone elements of the amphitheater will be washed. Hydrophobization will follow, and then an anti-graffiti coating will be applied to make it easier to wash off the artwork that will be created by young people from nearby schools,” says Andrzej Kasiedczak, the site manager.

“Obtaining the money for this project was very difficult, but I think the final result is excellent,” emphasizes Bolesławiec president Piotr Roman. The amphitheater stage is not yet finished because, as the president explained, the project did not provide for this. He immediately added: “In the future, we will consider a concert shell and the remaining elements.”

Soft activities related to cross-border cooperation between Poland and Saxony, and between Bolesławiec and Zittau, will be carried out at the amphitheater. But not only those. Anyone will be able to organize their event there. “We do not assume that only city institutions will do so,” Piotr Roman emphasizes.

When will the first event be held there? It will probably take place on May 1 (the anniversary of Poland joining the European Union).
