The incident occurred on Saturday, 17 December. Officers from the Lubin traffic police stopped the driver of an Opel for a roadside check. The man gave the officers his personal details and presented a driving licence. The officers routinely checked the document in their database. It turned out that the driving licence had been reported lost. The man could not provide a sensible explanation for this.

Soon afterwards, following a thorough check in the police database, the officers established the driver’s true identity. He was a 26-year-old from Lubin wanted under an arrest warrant in connection with two criminal cases in which final convictions had been handed down. The man was taken into police custody and will be transferred to prison, where he will spend three years.
