The anniversary celebration marking 50 years of the Construction School Complex in Bolesławiec took place on Friday, 16 December, at the Old Theatre. Everyone who attended had the opportunity to watch an artistic programme performed by “Budowlanka” students and visit an exhibition presenting the school’s history. There were, of course, wishes and congratulations for the distinguished anniversary celebrant, including from local government officials and representatives of other educational institutions.

As we read on the website of the Construction School Complex in Bolesławiec:

The history of our school begins on 1 July 1966, when the then Minister of Construction and the Construction Materials Industry established the Basic Construction School of the Bolesławieckie Przedsiębiorstwo Budowlane. The school opened on 1 September 1966. It was the hundredth school in Poland within the construction sector.

Over the course of three months, Bolesławieckie Przedsiębiorstwo Budowlane converted the buildings of its own workers’ hotel at 51 aleja 1000-lecia in Bolesławiec into a typical school building. During the war, these facilities had been barracks for a guard company supervising workers at two branches of the Gross Rosen concentration camp.

This school continued the work of the School of Construction Crafts, which had existed since 1959 at the Technical School of Ore Mining, as well as a branch of the Legnickie Przedsiębiorstwo Budowlane school operating at Primary School No. 3 since 1965. The school’s first principal was Józef Zając. The school year began with 284 students in eight classes training for the professions of bricklayer, carpenter, concrete worker and steel fixer, building-services installer, and painter.
