Our work brought immense joy to the children and great satisfaction to us. Recently, members of the Polish Psychopedagogical Society, headquartered in Bolesławiec, have been raising children’s and adults’ awareness of what disability really is. Through engaging games and activities, the youngest participants had the opportunity to experience the difficulties that people with disabilities face every day. During classes held by us at Gimnazjum Samorządowe No. 3 and the non-public “Jacek i Agatka” Preschool in Bolesławiec, students and preschoolers learned the correct terminology for different types of disabilities. They understood that their classmates’ and strangers’ disabilities do not make them any worse than fully able-bodied people. They learned to treat everyone with equal and due respect. But the “Rozpędzony wózek hejtu…” project was not only about activities with the youngest participants! We conducted many surveys, mainly among adults, and recorded interviews in which experts (Wojciech Kasprzyk and Dawid Karol Kołodziej) discussed disability.

At Primary School No. 4, children could take part in an art competition on the subject of people with disabilities. The entire project culminated on 2 December 2016 at the “Orzeł” Centre for Cultural Integration. The gala hosts, Katarzyna Sulik and Mateusz Mikołajewicz, presented the results of our many activities. The students who created the best competition entries received attractive prizes. There was also an artistic performance. The audience, gathered in a full hall, listened to beautiful songs performed by students of Barbara Lendzian’s music studio.

The results of our evaluation and, perhaps above all, the many smiles of the children clearly show that such initiatives are needed in the community. Although the “Rozpędzony…” project has come to an end, we continue to take on new challenges. We want to carry a spark of hope and use it to kindle smiles. We believe that through working together we may not change the world, but we can certainly achieve a great deal.
