Helena Smoleńska was honored for actively supporting cooperation between the Faculty and manufacturers of artistic ceramics, contributing to the development of the ceramics industry in Poland, and for her generosity, care and support, as well as creating development opportunities for employees, graduates and students of the Faculty of Materials Engineering and Ceramics at AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow.

The honorary “KERAMOS” distinction was established by the Council of the Faculty of Materials Engineering and Ceramics. The recipients are people who have made a particular contribution to the development of the Faculty or achieved scientific and educational success in the broadly understood field of ceramics. Helena Smoleńska is the first person associated with the ceramics industry in Bolesławiec to receive this prestigious distinction.

Zakłady Ceramiczne “Bolesławiec” won the “Lower Silesian Griffin” statuette at the 13th edition of the Lower Silesian Economic Award, in the Lower Silesia Ambassador category. The award was accepted on behalf of the company by Wiesław Ogrodnik, president of the Management Board of Zakłady Ceramiczne “Bolesławiec.” The distinction was awarded in recognition of the company’s position in the region. The company has operated on the market since 1946 and under its current name since 1980. It is the largest producer of stoneware vessels in the region. Since the beginning of its existence, it has consistently maintained a high artistic and quality standard for its products, which are recognized worldwide and serve as an emblem of Bolesławiec and Lower Silesia.

The Lower Silesian Griffins are the most important economic award presented to companies operating in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. Awards were presented in eight categories, including two new ones: Lower Silesia Ambassador and Digital Age Pioneer. This year’s competition was organized by the Western Chamber of Commerce, the Polska Miedź Employers’ Association and the Marshal’s Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. The substantive partner was PwC, and the competition’s patron was mBank SA.
