The 22-year-old resident of Legnica thought he had come up with a clever way to make easy money. He submitted an application for the 500+ benefit for an imaginary child. But a problem arose. When MOPS began verifying the application, it turned out that the child's mother would have had to be… 12 years old at the time of the child's birth.
The centre notified the police. It emerged that the young man from Legnica had provided fabricated details of his family members in the application, including a son he had never had. The 22-year-old man admitted attempting to defraud PLN 9,000 and was charged. He could now face up to 8 years in prison.
