A rescue operation is under way at the Rudna mine near Polkowice. It is initially known that 16 people were in the affected area. Three miners have already managed to reach the surface.
The tremor occurred at 9:09 p.m. It was felt in Bolesławiec, and many readers reported this information to us.
Update 12:49 a.m.
The ground collapsed at a depth of 1,100 meters. Immediately after the incident, after checking the number of people who had swiped their cards upon leaving the mine, it was known that 16 miners had been in the affected area. Nine were safely brought out after an hour. Six of them suffered minor injuries, and three were taken to hospital. One of the men died.
The rescue operation is currently under way. Seven people have still not been found.

Update 12:56 a.m.
So far, three miners have been taken to the Głogów district hospital. A 29-year-old man has already completed his examinations. He has a cervical spine injury and a foot injury, but will be discharged from hospital. Two others, aged 32 and 42, have head injuries but are conscious. They will certainly remain in the surgical ward.
Update 3:50 a.m.
As KGHM Polska Miedź Vice President Piotr Walczak said at a late-night press conference, two miners died as a result of the tectonic tremor, while six are still being searched for.
Update 9:00 a.m.
KGHM authorities declared four days of mourning. The rescue operation continues. Sixty-five rescuers are searching for the six miners mentioned above.

As reported by TOK FM radio, Prime Minister Beata Szydło will travel to Lower Silesia today.
