During a nationwide operation, authorities tracked down a person in Bolesławiec County who was distributing child pornography via the Internet. On the orders of the district prosecutor, a search was carried out, with an expert present, at the premises of a person suspected of possessing and distributing such materials. Computers and CD and DVD discs containing pornographic films were seized.
The 25-year-old resident of Bolesławiec County was charged with recording, possessing and distributing content involving minors. He faces between one and 10 years in prison.
During questioning, the suspect admitted to committing the offense and gave extensive explanations. The prosecutor imposed police supervision and issued a ban on leaving the country.
Nationwide operation
Several hundred police officers took part in the nationwide operation across 15 provinces. Officers identified the IP addresses of computers and then entered the previously selected apartments at the same time. The 138 people detained included both young and older individuals. The most people were apprehended in Katowice—28, Warsaw—24 and Poznań—15. A total of 144 computers, several thousand DVDs and other storage media were seized. Some of those detained admitted to the charges.
