I am writing about a rather unusual matter, namely the closed road from Bolesławiec to Lwówek, which has been closed since 4 October, while nothing is happening there. Access TO LWÓWEK has been organised via the side villages, but what are people working in Rakowice Małe supposed to do, where several sizeable workplaces are located????? While this does not pose a major problem for people living in Bolesławiec and commuting via Ocice, those living in Łaziska, Stare Jaroszowice and Żeliszów do not have it so easy!! To get to work, they cannot use the road through Suszki, because suddenly a sign prohibiting entry to all vehicles has appeared there. They have to drive to Bolesławiec and continue via Ocice, or use the diversion towards Lwówek, which leads as far as Chmielno, meaning they have to add many kilometres to their journey (turning back towards, for example, Rakowice Małe).

She added regretfully:

Although “there is a diversion”, it is not properly signposted in the villages. Perhaps the services should close all access roads to Lwówek and Rakowice Małe for two years (as that is almost how long the renovation is expected to take), and then let us close the workplaces too and make people redundant... Then there will be no problem with traffic in the surrounding villages being heavier than usual. Suddenly, 30 cars are driving through the village instead of the four cars a day there used to be. [...] Someone who does not often use the Bolesławiec–Lwówek road may not even notice these diversions, but if you commute to work every day, it really is a nuisance…

“Earthworks are being carried out on road 297 along the Bolesławiec–Nowe Jaroszowice section. Tree and shrub clearance, as well as surveying work, is under way along the entire Bolesławiec–Lwówek Śl. section. The Bolesławiec–Suszki Dln. section, from km 74+300 to 80+100, is currently closed, except for residents, emergency services, public transport and local businesses. The closure will last approximately seven months,” explains Leszek Loch, head of the Lower Silesian Road and Railway Service in Wrocław, referring to the Reader’s statement that “nothing is happening there”. “The diversion is being implemented in accordance with the approval of the Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship and, for vehicles with a maximum permissible weight of up to 3.5 tonnes, runs from Bolesławiec along county roads 2280 D and 2501 D (Bolesławiec, Stare Jaroszowice, Żeliszów, Ustronie, Chmielno, Brunów, Lwówek Śląski). It will operate this way until the reconstruction is completed, that is, until June 2018.

He adds: “Access to Lwówek County is therefore provided via county roads, and the difference in travel time between Bolesławiec and Lwówek Śl. is a maximum of 10 minutes. There is no need to travel from Łaziska, Stare Jaroszowice or Żeliszów to the towns in Lwówek County via Bolesławiec and Ocice; the diversion signs direct drivers precisely in the opposite direction. In consultation with the authorities of Lwówek and Bolesławiec counties, as well as the administrators of the other roads, the contractor designed diversions that are as little disruptive as possible for road users.
