The ceremony will take place at BOK-MCC on Chopina Street (CIK Orzeł) on Thursday, October 27, at 6:00 p.m. The application for the award for the artist was submitted by the Bolesławiec Cultural Center–International Ceramics Center.
Krystyna Gay-Kutschenreiter was born in Łódź. She studied at the Faculty of Art of the University in Toruń and at the Faculty of Ceramics of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, where she obtained her diploma in Professor Rudolf Krzywiec’s studio. In addition to ceramic sculpture, she also creates unique ceramics. She has lived and worked in Bolesławiec for many years, where she was involved in training personnel for the ceramics industry and, from 1990 to 2005, served as artistic commissioner of the annual National and International Ceramic and Sculptural Workshops. Her achievements include a dozen solo exhibitions and participation in several dozen group exhibitions in Poland and abroad. Apart from the Bolesławiec museum, her works are held in the collections of the National Museum in Wrocław, the National Museum in Poznań, the Upper Silesian Museum in Bytom, BWA Jelenia Góra, Kunstforum Piaristen in Vienna, and many private collections.
Awards and distinctions: Award of the Head of the City of Bolesławiec (1983), “Meritorious Cultural Activist” Badge of the Minister of Culture and Art (1994), Award of the Jelenia Góra Voivode (1998), Gold Badge of the Association of Polish Visual Artists (1999), Award of the Mayor of Bolesławiec (2004, 2010).
The artist’s works are held in the collections of the National Museum in Wrocław, the National Museum in Poznań, the Museum of Ceramics in Bolesławiec, the Bolesławiec Cultural Center–International Ceramics Center, the Upper Silesian Museum in Bytom, BWA in Jelenia Góra, Kunstforum Piaristen in Vienna (Austria), and private collections.
