The municipal harvest festival in Kruszyn took place on August 31. Participants in this year’s event had no reason to complain about the weather. After 11:00 a.m., Kazimierz Gawron, head of Bolesławiec Rural Gmina, ceremonially opened a modern administrative building complex. Since September 1, Kruszyn residents have been able to feel safer—the complex includes a police station. The Gminny Ośrodek Kultury i Sportu (a building equipped with a conference room and library) and the Gminny Ośrodek Pomocy Społecznej also have new premises. The investment cost the gmina authorities more than PLN 5 million.
Following the opening ceremony, Rev. Ludwik Maciak and Rev. Dr. Stanisław Kusik celebrated a solemn thanksgiving Mass on the school sports field. During the annual harvest festival, head of the gmina Gawron presented awards to farmers who had made outstanding contributions to the community.
The traditional procession was also part of the event. Representatives of the villages making up the rural gmina prepared magnificent harvest wreaths. In the competition for the most beautiful wreath, Kraśnik Dolny won (the winning village’s residents received a PLN 600 prize). Łaziska came second, and Lipiany third.
The head of the gmina also awarded a special prize of PLN 1,000. It went to Maria Mularczyk of Kruszyn, who spent six months preparing a wreath in the shape of a map showing all the villages in the rural gmina. Maria donated the prize to the renovation of the church.
Everyone gathered had the opportunity to listen to the Gminny Zespół Pieśni i Tańca Jutrzenka. However, the star of this year’s harvest festival was Bogdan Trojanek and the Terne Roma group. With their energetic music, the Roma band got the audience dancing.
A dance party began in the evening. Rural gmina residents danced into the late hours of the night.
