The Local Press Association, the Foundation in Support of Local Democracy and the Stefan Batory Foundation have announced a competition entitled “OUR PARTICIPATION IN MODERNITY”. This is the second edition of the “Local Press – Local Democracy – Local Government” competition, which last year brought, among other things, accolades to our colleagues from Lubań.
As the editorial team of “Głos”, we will take part in this initiative. We will inform our readers of the results at the end of 1995. We had the opportunity to present the periodical to participants in journalism workshops in Jelenia Góra–Cieplice during a two-day meeting (17–18 February this year), and compared ourselves with other publications. Editor Cezary Wiklik of “Gazeta Robotnicza” spoke about the correctness of journalistic forms; editor Wojciech Jankowski of “Gazeta Wyborcza” discussed methods of gathering information; Prof. Jacek Sobczak of UAM in Poznań familiarised those gathered with selected issues of press and copyright law; and Dr Krzysztof Podemski of UAM in Poznań presented the specific nature of local communities and editorial work. The Lower Silesian Centre for the Local Press was established, based in Jelenia Góra.
