In March 1995, a collection of mathematics problems was published by the Regional Methodological Centre in Jelenia Góra. The problems concerned ecological issues affecting our city and the Jelenia Góra Voivodeship.
Świętouść in Międzywodzie (Wolin Island).
The authors of the work are teachers at Primary School No. 8: Anna Marciniec, M.Sc., Krystyna Młynicka, M.Sc., and Krystyna Żuralska, M.Sc. Compiling the collection of ecological problems was one way of implementing the objectives of the school’s 1993/94 work plan related to raising students’ ecological awareness. The work made use of the “Report on the State of the Environment in the Jelenia Góra Voivodeship in 1990 and 1993”.
The mathematics teachers from “Number Eight” proved that pro-ecological attitudes among our students can be shaped not only in biology or chemistry lessons.
The collection is a valuable aid for mathematics teachers. The publication became possible thanks to the personal commitment of WOM methodological adviser Zofia Diakowska, M.Sc.
