On 10 March 1995, a meeting of the SELF-EDUCATION TEAM of Physical Education and Civil Defence teachers from the Bolesławiec and Lwówek Śląski areas was held at I LO in Bolesławiec. The meeting was led by senior school inspector of the Jelenia Góra Education Office, Marian STABELSK1.
Teacher Jan BLACHA, MA, from I LO presented a lesson entitled "Practical consolidation of skills in providing first aid before medical assistance arrives".
Students from classes I and II presented everyday-life situations, such as:
-stopping severe bleeding;
-dealing with medication poisoning;
-fainting and loss of consciousness;
-first aid in the event of electric shock;
-cardiopulmonary resuscitation;
- artificial respiration.
The presented lesson aroused great interest among the conference participants. It also resulted in an exchange of experience in conducting classes using enactments and real-life situations.
The meeting programme covered current issues concerning the provision of first aid before medical assistance arrives, as well as sanitary training lessons in primary schools in Austria.
The conference provided many impressions, especially for the students of classes I and II, rescuers and those simulating the situations.
