In April, the Lower Silesian Championships in the bench press were held in Legnica. Our representative, Jolanta Anasiewicz, proved to be the best among 11 competitors, with a result of 67.5 kg. Among the defeated rivals were three members of Poland’s national team from Kraków and Zakopane. This is a good sign ahead of the Polish Championships, which will be held at the end of June. Good results were also achieved by Krzysztof Kuśnierzowski (body weight 82.5 kg), who took third place with a lift of 142.5 kg; Sławomir Purta (69 kg) and Dariusz Biesiadecki (64.5 kg) successfully lifted 1 17.5 kg, taking fifth place.
BKS Bolesławiec’s footballers advanced to the semi-final of the Polish Cup at the regional level, defeating Zjednoczeni 4–0 in Bolków after goals by R. Stasiak and T. Fulczyński. Our footballers are doing less well in the inter-district league, where after 23 rounds they occupy 13th place in the standings. Recently, after a good match, they defeated league leaders Barycz Milicz 2–1, with goals by Włodzimierz Pałka and Daniel Giza.
BKS’s juniors are performing better. They defeated Pogoń Oleśnica 2–1 (goals by D. Giza and M. Paluszek), Polonia Świdnica 2–0 (goals by R. Nitarski and M. Paluszek), drew 1–1 with Wratislavia Wrocław (goal by D. Giza), and lost 3–4 to Kryształ in Stronie (goals by D. Giza – 2 and M. Dąbrowski). After 20 rounds, the juniors occupy fourth place in the standings.
The BKS juniors’ match against Wratislavia began with an unexpected gesture. On behalf of the PZPN, head referee Andrzej Domin presented Marek Dąbrowski with a commemorative pennant and a book bearing a personal dedication and the signatures of Polish football legends Kazimierz Górski, Ryszard Kulesza and Edmunt Ziętara, marking his 100th match for BKS Bolesławiec. He also presented identical gifts to Marcin Szaja, who will play his 100th match on 17 May against KP Wałbrzych. My heartfelt congratulations to both likeable footballers.
The team from the Zespół Szkół Budowlanych advanced to the regional final in secondary-school football. In the final, Mr. llczyna’s charges will face an opponent from Zgorzelec, who defeated our “Mechanik”—last year’s winners of the competition—in a two-leg tie.
Mr. Ryszard Ruliński of the “Rulimpex” company has joined BKS’s sponsors by purchasing football kits and providing refreshments for all the club’s teams.
The BKS Bolesławiec board announces that the Club’s general reporting and electoral meeting will be held in June. Anyone willing to get involved with BKS is invited. The exact date will be announced in a separate notice.
