The resolution unanimously adopted by Bolesławiec councillors at the session held on 25 April this year is written in an unusual language, warm and heartfelt Polish, and therefore we will quote the justification included in the document in its original wording.
"IN RECOGNITION OF THE OUTSTANDING MERITS, DESERVING THE HIGHEST RESPECT AND GRATITUDE, RENDERED FOR THE RESIDENTS OF THE CITY OF BOLESŁAWIEC IN THE FIELDS OF PASTORAL AND CHARITABLE ACTIVITY, STRENGTHENING THE BONDS OF THE CITY COMMUNITY AND SUPPORTING HUMANITARIAN SOCIAL INITIATIVES, AND IN CONNECTION WITH MORE THAN 42 YEARS OF DEVOTED PRIESTLY SERVICE, THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF BOLESŁAWIEC AWARDS THE HONORARY CITIZENSHIP OF THE CITY OF BOLESŁAWIEC TO THE REVEREND PRELATE, MASTER OF ARTS, WŁADYSŁAW RĄCZKA, COLLEGIATE CANON OF THE CATHEDRAL CHAPTER, DEAN OF THE BOLESŁAWIEC–EAST DEANERY, PARISH PRIEST OF THE PARISH OF THE ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY AND ST. NICHOLAS."
A man of great heart and great wisdom, an unquestioned authority with an impressive and wide-ranging record of achievement, a wonderful personal example of diligence, tolerance, prudence, reliability, modesty and selflessness in service to others, whose long and beautiful life exemplifies the principles of Christian ethics and the Gospel’s Decalogue. The biography of the Prelate Father has been written in golden letters into the post-war history of the town on the Bóbr, and no one can dispute this fact. The difficult years have passed into the winds of history, time has softened the pain of undeserved wrongs and false actions, and it was wonderful that the pastor always remained true to himself and to the teachings he proclaimed. A motion to grant honorary citizenship was submitted at the very first session of the new municipal government, and since it received unanimous support, this testifies to the return of hope and faith in joint action for the common good. Father WŁADYSŁAW RĄCZKA is a symbolic bond between the municipal councillors and the local community. Heartfelt congratulations on this exceptional distinction.
