Information important not only to councillors, but also to the residents of the town on the Bóbr. On 31 August this year, the Sejm of the Republic of Poland passed an amendment to the Local Government Act. Before it enters into force (14 days after publication), it must still be approved by the Senate and signed by the President.
The proposed amendments to the Local Government Act include a number of provisions concerning:
-the status of the municipality as a legal entity,
-defining village councils and housing estates with a single term,
-guarantees for financing delegated tasks,
-a more precise definition of the role of the audit committee,
-emphasising the role of the chairperson of the municipal council,
-supplementing the content of municipal statutes,
-combining the functions of councillor and local-government employee,
-strengthening the position of the executive board and establishing the procedure for its election and dismissal,
-expanding the responsibilities of regional councils and inter-municipal associations.
