The Mayor of Bolesławiec, engineer Józef Król, was honored by the Jelenia Góra Voivode with a commemorative medal marking the 20th anniversary of the voivodeship. Current UW employees and their predecessors, who began working in July 1975, attended the ceremonial meeting. The most distinguished recipients received commemorative medals and state decorations. In the case, next to the oxidized silver medallion bearing an administrative map of Poland (obverse), was a text that read: "Commemorative medal marking the 20th anniversary. On the anniversary of the establishment of the Jelenia Góra Voivodeship, for Mr. Józef Król. Jelenia Góra Voivode Janusz Pezda. Jelenia Góra 1995-06-01".An even more original gift was presented to the Mayor of the City by scouts from the Bolesławiec ZHP Gray Ranks Scout Troop. It is a miniature metal statuette of the Warsaw Little Insurgent Monument, located in the capital and commemorating the bravery of scouting youth in the fight against the Nazis. Today, it decorates the office of the town’s father on the Bóbr, and in the future will probably find its way to the city history museum.
