Councillor EUGENIUSZ KOWALSKI was interested in the benefits brought by the city’s membership in the “Euroregion Neisse.” In Western Europe, Euroregions are a permanent element of the socio-political landscape; no one shies away from them, and they bring tangible economic and interpersonal benefits. Their number exceeds one hundred—from Spain and Portugal to Poland—and cross-border contacts serve the idea of bringing nations closer together and reconciling interests. The Association of European Border Regions (SERP) already exists; we are only taking our first steps here. At a SERP meeting in Treście, the mayor of Karpacz became the first representative of Eastern Europe to join the organization’s presidium (Zbigniew Kulik). The goal is fuller cooperation with Germany and the Czech Republic, and a model could be the border region between France and Germany, where the injustices of war were forgotten long ago. Today, the “Euroregion Neisse” represents an open opportunity that must be used.
Other questions from the councillor concerned the privatization plan for municipal flats of MPGM and the lighting of Zabobrze 50 Street.
