The average citizen is not even aware that in this New Poland there is already a group of people who are doing very well, and this is not due to their work, but to their cleverness in circumventing the law and their mafia connections. But why reach so high? The President’s Office announced that 18 city presidents earn more than President Wałęsa!! And how many directors, bailiffs, notaries, commissioners, etc. are there like that? In terms of the number of homes handed over per 1,000 inhabitants, we rank second from last in Europe (ahead of Romania), with a rate of 2.4, and perhaps next year we will take last place, because, as the chairman of the Sejm committee dealing with this sector announced, next year this rate is expected to be approximately 1.5. As a resident of Bolesławiec, I would like to know how these problems are being addressed by our local authorities. How many homeless and unemployed people are there in our city? How much does the city president and his officials earn? Why, despite being such a short distance from the western border, do we pay more for imported goods in Bolesławiec than residents of cities in eastern Poland? Why do taxes keep rising while wages remain at the same level? What chance does a teachers’ family have of receiving a municipal apartment?
There are many such questions, but I have three fundamental ones: 1. When will our wages be brought into line with reality? 2. When will the housing problems be resolved? 3. How will unemployment be eliminated?
I also address these questions to the Local Governments and expect answers – I, an ordinary citizen of the Third Republic of Poland.
