The location of Kindergarten No. 7 on Piastów Street—with plenty of greenery, equipment for exercise and physical play, a paddling pool, sandpits and a rock garden—provides good conditions for the physical and mental development of children.
However, this does not determine the results in terms of upbringing and instilling intellectual and social qualities in preschoolers. What matters above all is the proper pedagogical preparation and dedication of the teaching staff. Parents also play a significant role, cooperating closely with the kindergarten in a planned and committed manner.
One of the tasks around which the kindergarten organized educational activities was bringing children closer to adults’ work and to the environment in which we live.
Among other places, the children visited and learned about “Ceramika Artystyczna,” P. Wakuła’s photography studio, the post office, railway, a tailor’s workshop, P. Nawrot’s carpentry shop, a watchmaker’s, a medical clinic, the police, a library and P. Noga’s allotment garden. Cooperation was established with Primary Schools Nos. 2 and 10. The kindergarten children took part in lessons, preparing in this way for their future role as pupils, while first-grade children from the cooperating schools participated in sports and fitness competitions organized in the kindergarten garden with the involvement of parents.
The preschool children took part in a performance welcoming spring at School No. 10, and in return the preschoolers staged “The Hare’s Hut” at their own kindergarten. The parents of one group were invited to the kindergarten with brushes and oil paints, and painted the garden equipment. During this time, the children prepared refreshments of vegetable salad for their parents. The children from Kindergarten No. 7 participated in two art competitions: the PCK competition entitled “A Beautiful Smile Means Healthy Teeth” and a competition organized by TLB and “Głos Bolesławca.” Both exhibitions of the winning works were held on the kindergarten premises, and the awards were presented in a ceremonial setting with, among others, Zofia Roman – Head of the Department of Education and Social Affairs, in attendance. Parents and the competition organizers were also present.
The kindergarten took part in the “Carnival of Youth” as part of the Bolesławiec Days celebrations (for its participation and presentation, the kindergarten received a prize of 200,000 zlotys), as well as in a children’s fashion show and a preschool song competition. In this competition, Asia Karbowska took first place.
1994 was the International Year of the Family. Instead of the traditional Mother’s Day, Children’s Day and Father’s Day, Kindergarten No. 7 organized a joint celebration: Family Day. The children prepared an artistic program for their parents, while the parents secretly prepared a puppet show for the children, staging the fairy tales “The Adventures of the Little Bears” and “Cinderella.” The teachers prepared commemorative emblems as well as games, activities and dances for everyone to enjoy together.
At first, the parents were reluctant, but after a few minutes they were already playing with the children with full commitment. The activities were accompanied by joy, smiles and kindness. During the break, people could drink coffee, eat cake and even roast sausages.
Kindergarten No. 7 is proud of the parents of its pupils. They are true allies who trust the educators and appreciate the role and standing of the kindergarten, as well as the qualifications of its staff.
Someone looking on from the sidelines might ask: why do all this? Is it worthwhile? Will anyone appreciate it?
But it is not about applause at all; it is about the joy of the youngest children and the results of educational work.
