Little time remains before the local elections; a civic exchange of views has begun, along with efforts to attract voters to programmes and candidates for councillors. The ELECTORAL FORUM completed its organisational work with unexpected success: in addition to the seven existing coalition partners, after negotiations the following organisations also declared their accession: Bolesławiec sports associations and clubs, some members of the Polish Teachers’ Union (putting forward their own candidates for councillors), and representatives of the Polish Angling Association.
The FORUM ELECTORAL COMMITTEE was established together with its Presidium, headed by Guild Master EUGENIUSZ STACHOWSKI. Grzegorz ZIELIŃSKI serves as deputy, while Włodzimierz KOWALSKI and Bolesław KALENIK are secretaries. Among the candidates for councillors on the ELECTORAL FORUM list are well-known and respected doctors, lawyers, teachers, engineers, architects and representatives of other professions from our city. We will therefore be represented by competent specialists, people of recognised authority and achievement, interested in actively working for the city and its residents. Their work includes the preliminary OUTLINE OF THE ELECTORAL FORUM PROGRAMME, which we are publishing inside this issue as an insert, together with a cordial request for opinions, additions and criticism. Not only the election results depend on all of us, on our personal commitment and harmonious cooperation, but above all the city’s future and development and the daily lives of its residents. We do not want slogans – today, deeds and grassroots, practical work are what matter, and this is what we sincerely appeal for.
