In the car
We spend money protecting our cars from theft and vandalism. But how often do we think about protecting ourselves and the property we carry while driving? It is certainly impossible to avoid collisions and other problems on the road, especially as the number of inexperienced drivers using increasingly faster vehicles continues to grow. However, by being cautious and forward-thinking, you can reduce the risk of becoming the victim of a crime, or of having your property targeted.
Therefore, while driving, try to follow these rules:
- before setting off, check that you have the necessary documents, money, maps, etc.,
- when you intend to drive a vehicle, do not consume any alcoholic beverages,
- never pick up casual passengers, especially when they are under the influence of alcohol,
- if you are driving alone, plan your journey so that you do not have to stop and ask for directions,
- if necessary, stop in larger towns or at busy petrol stations,
- after dark, avoid roads that are lightly traveled, poorly lit or have limited visibility,
- if someone on the road expects help from you, assess the situation realistically and, depending on the circumstances, ask how you can help without opening the doors or windows. If you have any suspicions, go to the nearest police station,
- do not stop in secluded places to pick up hitchhikers. It sometimes happens that an attractive girl is placed by a criminal group to lure reckless drivers. When transporting cash or a large quantity of goods by car, you may encounter a situation in which a tree or other objects block the road. If you have any suspicions, do not leave the car; turn around instead and share your observations with the police,
- whenever you stop the vehicle, be careful that items inside the car are not stolen through open windows,
- if you suspect that you are being followed, remember the number plate, make and color of the vehicle following you. Drive directly to the nearest police station without stopping along the way.
Don't take risks!
