In response to the published articles concerning timetables, I would like to inform you that we are aware of the problems related to their legibility and are constantly seeking a solution that will satisfy passengers. I would like to remind you that we previously had fully glazed “Warsaw-style” bus shelters, with legible timetables, aesthetically pleasing and equipped with lighting, but the costs of maintaining them were so high that we could no longer keep them and had to look for another, cheaper solution. The panes in these shelters were constantly being broken, and the timetables stolen.
At present, timetables are affixed to sheet metal and then varnished to protect them from various types of precipitation.
It is a fact that the timetables are sometimes illegible; however, this is not due to paper of inadequate thickness or poor-quality paper. It results from vandals scratching the timetables, attempting to vent their dissatisfaction at the bus shelters.
I would also like to inform you that other transport operators in Poland are struggling with the unresolved problem of timetables as well. Many transport operators use methods similar to ours for displaying timetables at bus shelters. Attempts by transport operators to laminate timetables have not worked in practice.
Nevertheless, for our part, we are taking measures that will significantly improve the legibility of the timetables and make it easier for passengers to use our services.
As for the lack of an explanation concerning the timetables from the MZK management, I would like to inform you that none of the editors of “Głos Bolesławca” contacted us to request an appropriate explanation in the matter. Furthermore, when raising in your articles issues requiring an explanation from the MZK management, I would ask you to inform us about the articles published in your newspaper, as the MZK management is not obliged to read “Głos Bolesławca”. I would also like to inform you that we are ready to cooperate with your newspaper and will try to include more information about MZK in it in the future.
Signed, Director of the Municipal Transport Company Zbigniew Derecki.
From the editorial office: Readers (and we as well) ask that information about new ticket prices, changes to services or routes, etc., be sent to “Głos Bolesławca”. Local Television does not reach everyone.
