On October 18, a concert entitled “GIFT OF THE HEART” was held in the “Forum” hall. It was jointly organized by TMB, the Social Committee for the Purchase of Medical Equipment, Bolesławiecki Ośrodek Kultury, the State Music School and the BFFiA “Polfa” Brass Band.The concert was dedicated to all donors who contributed—and continue to contribute—to the purchase of a cardiac ultrasound machine and accompanying equipment for the hospital. The concert seemed to please the audience of 300, as they warmly applauded both the performances by the talented children from the Music School and the brilliant playing of the “Polfa” Brass Band conducted by Henryk Biały. The band prepared and performed a special repertoire for the concert, including Strauss waltzes and popular songs from the international hit parade. The friendly presenters, siblings mgr Dorota Pińczuk and Sławek Osuch, also received applause, as did the members of the Social Committee themselves when they “reported” to the audience that 750 million złotys had been collected (!). It is a pity that no flowers were thought of for these worthy people, or for the performers. Jurek Owsiak of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity was supposed to attend the concert, and the organizers did not know how to explain his absence (everything had initially been “agreed”). The matter was clarified the following day, October 19. Here is the text of the telegram sent by Jerzy Owsiak: “I sincerely thank you for the invitation to your wonderful event unfortunately it reached me a day too late best regards to everyone hugs and kisses congratulations Jerzy Owsiak”.The invitation was sent on October 8 (!).Recently, the following donors paid into the account for the Purchase of Medical Equipment for the Hospital: H. Stępień, PPHU “Opty” Dąbrowa, KGHM “Polska Miedź S.A.” (70 million zł), PPHU “Edir”, the Gromadka Municipal Office, “Amfora” Wholesale Store, D. Dudek, J.J. Gródeccy, Z. Partyka, “Maxpor” company, Fr. Hryniewiecki, the Rural Transport Cooperative, “Inco–Veritas” Nowogrodziec, Włodzimierz Kaczyński (Poultry Hatchery), and Feliks Szpila of Kraśnik Dolny.From the beginning of the GIFT OF THE HEART campaign until this issue of “Głos” went to print, the sum of 765,217,300 zł had been collected.
