For the second year in a row, two one-day trips to Poznań for the 9th International Agricultural and Industrial Trade Fair POLAGRA '93 were organized for farmers, councillors and village heads from our municipality. A total of 1,730 exhibitors from 30 countries presented an extraordinarily rich range of various agricultural and food products, equipment and machinery for the processing industry, agricultural transport, cultivation and animal husbandry across an area of 32,000 sq m. Polish producers displayed their goods at 160 stands, while the quality and broad range of the products presented strengthened the position of domestic exhibitors among established foreign companies.
Visitors toured the stands individually, which made it possible to see a larger area than when visiting in groups; moreover, this allowed them to learn more about the offers that particularly interested them.
Everyone agreed that a one-day stay at an event organized on such a grand scale and with such a wealth of exhibits was far too short to become familiar with all the goods and services presented. Although all the companies’ offers were interesting, the participants in our trip were particularly interested in the cattle exhibition, URSUS products, technological equipment for bakery and dairy production. The horticultural exhibition was combined with the sale of trees, shrubs, seeds, seedlings and gardening equipment.
The most distinctive exhibition, owing to its beauty, was the display of domestic and exotic ornamental plants, which aroused admiration with the colours, shapes, fragrances and arrangements of the flowers presented.
The fair was musically enhanced by performances from folk ensembles, including one from faraway Bolivia.
It was worth going to see both a glimpse of the latest technology in the agricultural and food industry and what remains unchanged in agriculture—the products of nature.
