Bolesławianie, both as individual residents and as a collective community (schools, workplaces, companies), have given evidence—especially over the past year—of their attachment to their city and their great concern for its needs.
Let us recall some examples:
Within six months, a substantial sum of over half a billion (!) złotys was collected for an ultrasound scanner for the hospital (even children from first-grade classes, nursery-school employees, and others contributed). Several million was collected for Jurek Owsiak’s campaign, and help was provided to children from Bosnia and to the children at our Children’s Home.
People contributed towards an ambulance, hungry children, an expensive surgical procedure, the publication of “Głos Bolesławca,” and countless other things.
Cultural events included support for St. Nicholas and May celebrations, and especially for an event of national importance: the August BLUES NAD BOBREM (some sponsors, such as LUMEX, “invested” a very substantial amount of capital in this last event). In this situation, the condition imposed by TELEKOMUNIKACJA POLSKA S.A. for connecting a telephone during the event (from the SAWANNA restaurant to the nearby stage)—for ...7 million złotys—sounded downright absurd. There was therefore no telephone at this crowded event, and people in the city say that the once wonderful Zbyszek K. has changed beyond recognition since he “became a director,” and that he certainly “doesn’t feel the blues” when it comes to many city matters.
Not Everyone Feels the So-Called Blues..
