On September 17 and 18, 1994, a worldwide Earth-cleanup campaign took place. Eighty-seven countries participated, including Poland. More than 2,000 people cleaned Bolesławiec, including schools, some preschools, the military and other volunteers. Almost the entire city was cleaned.
Class VIII a from Primary School No. 4 helped the scouts from Bolesławiecki Hufiec clean up Krępnica. We cleaned the shores of the lake, the part of the forest along the shore, the clearing and the thickets. We collected more than 10 bags of various rubbish. Most often, these were plastic bottles and various types of packaging. After cleaning up the area, we returned home, and the municipal services took away the bags. I think that campaigns of this kind should be held more often. I appeal to every passer-by who sees pieces of paper or other rubbish nearby to pick them up and throw them in a bin. Otherwise, our city will turn into a rubbish dump. Let us remember that by destroying nature, we destroy ourselves.
