In December and January, sculptors participating in the 30th National Ceramics and Sculpture Open-Air Workshop present their works at the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre. The jubilee workshop brought together 29 artists from across Poland. City residents will certainly remember the "Hungarian kiln" fired up in Piłsudski Square; it was then, at the end of summer, that artists from different parts of Poland carried out their creative plans here. Today, we can admire the wonderful results of this workshop. The organisers and sponsors of the 30th Workshop were: the Ministry of Culture and Art, the Association of Polish Artists and Designers, Wrocław Branch, the Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism of the Voivodeship Office in Jelenia Góra, the Department of Culture of the Municipal Office in Wrocław, the Municipal Office in Bolesławiec, the "Bolesławiec" Ceramic Works, the "Ceramika Artystyczna" Cooperative in Bolesławiec, the "Przyborsk" Ceramic Tile Works in Gierałtowice, the District Dairy Cooperative in Bolesławiec, the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre, and the Municipal Sports and Recreation Centre in Bolesławiec.
Krystyna Gay-Kutschenreiter has been the workshop commissioner since 1990. The participants in the jubilee workshop were: Barbara Cichocka (Oleśnica), Martina Benke-Gajda (Zabierzów near Kraków), Władysław Garnik, Ewa Granowska, Krystyna Szczepanek-Haisig, Krystyna Pławska-Jackiewicz, Beata Dziekońska-Jedwabny, Jolanta Jasińska, Halina Gabi-Kłosowicz, Halina Olasik, Czesław and Stanisław Wiąckowie, Paulina Pokorny-Ziemba (all artists from Wrocław), Janina Karczewska-Konieczna, Andrzej Trzaska and Maria Wojtiuk from Gdańsk, Mariola Kalicka-Królczyk, Grażyna Szymała-Wołyńska and Ewa Twarowska-Sioda from Poznań, Katarzyna Hałas-Lożykowska and Adam Lożykowski from Inowrocław, Anna Stawiarska from Chorzów. Eugeniusz Molski from Kraków, Krzysztof Rozpondek from Brzeg, Maria Kupczak-Zajadacz from Opole, and Janina Bany-Kozłowska, Krystyna Gay-Kutschenreiter, Barbara Kozłowska-Trojnar and Bronisław Wolanin from Bolesławiec.
As I have already mentioned, the results of this year's workshop are impressive and worthy of its 30th anniversary. In the beautifully published catalogues—the 30th-anniversary catalogue and the exhibition catalogue—those interested will find artistic and professional assessments of the ceramic sculptures created in our city. The artists' profiles are also presented there. The exhibition must be seen before it is moved to Jelenia Góra, Wrocław and beyond our country's borders.
