Nic will receive PLN 50 million. The hospital in Lwówek Śląski, which is connected with the needs of treatment in the oncology and surgery departments. This results from the weakness of next year’s municipal budget. If the economic situation improves, our city will provide financial support to its neighbors across the border, because many residents of Bolesławiec use the hospital’s services there.
The premises at 40 Łokietka Street (next to the fish wholesaler) will be leased by Mr. Kazimierz Sas for use as a general wholesale business. His offer outbid proposals submitted by businesspeople from Wrocław and Warta Bolesławiecka, who proposed other uses for the building at reduced lease costs.
Once again, an application to introduce alcohol sales at the “Paragraf” Casino, which occupies part of the District Police Headquarters building, was rejected. Although prohibition has not worked in any country, the provisions of the anti-alcohol law clearly specify the places where one may fortify oneself with “firewater,” hence the resistance of the city fathers. It is unfortunate that a kind of “Civil War” has been going on for months, involving even the Local Government Assembly, and that its end is still nowhere in sight...
The DEFENSIVE TOWER on Partyzantów Street (next to the church dedicated to Our Lady of Perpetual Help) has finally been renovated. Initially, it was only intended to replace the missing roof tiles; now the wooden rafters are also being replaced because of the extent of their deterioration. Perhaps it would be worthwhile to consider using the interior of this impressive building, together with developing the terrace within the defensive walls (an art gallery, a summer café).
The BUILDING occupied by the Guild of Various Crafts, the SLD Councillors’ Club and SdRP will not be sold. The Bolesławiec craftsmen are preparing to celebrate their 50th anniversary in the Western Territories and, following the example of other cities, wanted to buy their now historic headquarters. The city refused because the other users had not also submitted offers; moreover, the rent paid on an ongoing basis provides greater benefits.
In Bolesławiec, 3,752 unemployed people were registered (as of the end of November this year), while the District Labour Office has observed a downward trend in this area. A total of 1,886 people no longer have the right to unemployment benefits. The gradual reduction of funds for public works, which give many people a chance to survive the crisis, is cause for concern.
