There is a chance to enliven the appearance of our villages somewhat while also providing travellers waiting for a bus with shelter from the wind, rain and snow. The brick PKS bus shelters that have been present in all Polish villages to date have become so firmly rooted in the landscape that, at first, perhaps not everyone will believe in the new structures with bus shelters. The first impression is indeed surprising. The apparent lightness and delicacy, combined with the durability, functionality and aesthetics of these facilities, are due to the materials used to construct them, namely:
—a frame made of cold-formed steel, coated with renovation paint,
—a transparent polycarbonate roof dome covering,
—walls made of tempered glass and steel sheet.
A bench is installed inside, complemented by a bus-stop post and a litter bin
Following the preliminary negotiations we held with the manufacturer of the shelters—P.P.W. “BUDOTECHNIKA” in Gliwice—we intend to bring in these facilities and gradually locate them at the existing bus-stop sites, after PKS has dismantled the brick shelters.
The only unanswered question is whether we can all take care of something that can not only please the eye and demonstrate our resourcefulness to others, but also serve us all for many, many years. We hope that there can be only one answer: we are capable of respecting what serves us all, especially those who use public transport, primarily the children and young people commuting to schools, who should particularly appreciate it.
