On 9 February, the Culture Council in Bolesławiec discussed the calendar of cultural events for 1993 and proposed to the Municipal Board how the funds for these events should be allocated.
The leading event, of national and even international significance, will be the 29th National Ceramics and Sculpture Open-Air Workshop, which this year is also expected to include professional artists from abroad.
An event of significance beyond the region will be “Blues nad Bobrem” – an event launched last year that brought the city considerable publicity across the country, while providing participating young people with many benefits and memorable experiences.
Both events will take place at the end of summer, in August. Earlier, however, in the third decade of May, we will take part in the celebrations of DAYS OF BOLESŁAWIEC, preceded this year by the Days of Chamber Music and a gala concert marking the 10th anniversary of the State Music School. The DAYS OF BOLESŁAWIEC are to be extended by the CERAMICS FAIR, organized for the first time in our city, with exhibitors and traders from all over the country.
The event calendar also included celebrations of national holidays: 3 May and 11 November, ensemble reviews and competitions, as well as the winter holidays, which have already taken place.
For all these events and cultural initiatives, the Municipal Board could allocate 160,000 zlotys. This is a modest sum, considering that the DAYS OF BOLESŁAWIEC program itself will be multifaceted, while events of national and supraregional significance will consume at least half of the allocated funds.
The organizers will therefore once again have to rely on the help and goodwill of sponsors...
