Residents of Bolesławiec surely remember “Wrocławska 2”; today’s “Stalbet” Company grew out of that enterprise.
“Dwójka” specialized in industrial works, but also built residential buildings in which, judging by appearances, the members of the housing cooperatives on Kilińskiego and Starzyńskiego streets live quite comfortably. Among the industrial projects, it is worth recalling the comprehensive or partial works carried out at the “Wizów” Chemical Plants, “Ampułek”, “Elektroniki”, the House Factory, today’s “Famex”, the PKS Depot, the Water Treatment Plant, and the heating network from the Boiler House to Dolne Młyny. Outside Bolesławiec, the “Konrad” Mining Works owe “Wrocławska 2” their above-ground facilities, while the projects completed in the Jelenia Góra and Legnica voivodeships would make too long a list for the purposes of this article. And there were also projects carried out in Germany and Czechoslovakia...
The examples listed above are sufficient, however, to establish the fact that “Wrocławska 2” survived into the modern era of transformation as a consolidated company with good traditions, an equipment base and—above all—staff. All of this, especially its skilled and experienced personnel, meant that the enterprise did not have to share “Bep”’s fate of bankruptcy, but could successfully transform itself into a company.
The company—as can be seen—is doing well and has no shortage of work. In Bolesławiec, among other projects, it is constructing the mechanical section of a wastewater treatment plant, modernizing the fuel depot at the “Wizów” Chemical Plants, has carried out finishing works in residential buildings in the Dolne Młyny housing estate, and is performing modernization work at the “Bonitex” Technical Fabrics Plant.
In Bogatynia, “Stalbet” is constructing a highly modern and gigantic school with a swimming pool, sports hall and recreational facilities—a project worthy of the 21st century. In Nowogrodziec, it is working on a Water Treatment Plant, while in Iwiny it is carrying out work on the expansion of a production line. Work is also being undertaken in ecological, anticorrosion and chemical-resistant construction.
Industrial construction is “Stalbet”’s first field of activity. The second is production for its own needs and for others. “Stalbet” produces ready-mix concrete—the cheapest in the Jelenia Góra voivodeship, and also in the Legnica voivodeship—including certified concrete, while possessing the technological equipment needed to transport it.
“Stalbet” produces standard and non-standard concrete products: paving slabs, hollow blocks, channel tiles, curbs, concrete blocks, lawn edging, lintel beams, concrete rings, H-frames, posts and crossbeams—in short, all prefabricated components for industrial construction.
The steel structures plant produces non-standard steel structures for industrial halls, chimneys, posts and steel trusses, as well as high-quality metalwork for both Polish and German customers, based on German standards.
The third field of activity is transport and construction equipment. In this respect, “Stalbet” Company is a true powerhouse in our area. Its specialized transport and equipment base includes, among other things, heavy assembly equipment, excavators, bulldozers, mobile cranes, concrete mixer trucks and the only German concrete pump within a 50-kilometer radius.
And one more very important point. Just as “Wrocławska 2” once cooperated with “Instal” as a subcontractor, today “Stalbet” cooperates with the modern company “Hydroinstal”. As a result, it can undertake comprehensive, general-contracting construction projects: from design, through construction works, to installations. A few important facts about “Hydroinstal”: the company’s main area of activity is the modernization and replacement of traditional boilers with oil- and gas-fired boiler houses. “Hydroinstal” represents the well-known German company “Vissmann”, which specializes in this field. The company carries out water and gas installations. “Hydroinstal” does not use the costly traditional technology—in which steel pipes insulated with insulation are laid in channels—but a modern system using plastic pipes that do not require channels. The company holds all the necessary licenses and possesses the appropriate equipment for this modern technology.
Projects already completed by “Hydroinstal” include an oil-fired boiler house with a capacity of 2.5 MW at the Hospital for Nervous Diseases and a gas-fired boiler house at a wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 140 kW. Both boiler houses are Vissmann systems, including warranty and post-warranty service.
Projects planned for this year include an oil-fired boiler house for an entire housing estate, with external and internal installations, closely connected with environmental protection. By switching to a new boiler technology, the District Dairy Cooperative will eliminate smoke pollution in this part of the city.
At the end of the conversation, the head of “Hydroinstal” and the members of the Management Board of “Stalbet” Company assured us that, whenever possible, they would always remain open and helpful regarding the city’s needs.
Our sincere thanks.
