The most important trace that remains after every person’s life is the good they have done for others. Future generations can express their gratitude by preserving the memory of those who have passed away.
Since 1968, the Helena and Wincenty Tyrankiewicz Scholarship has been awarded each year at the Władysław Broniewski Comprehensive School in Bolesławiec to the most talented students and graduates. The Tyrankiewiczs were outstanding educators who helped establish Bolesławiec’s secondary school many years ago.
It is no exaggeration to say that their complete devotion to working with young people made an invaluable contribution to the intellectual and personal development of numerous groups of students from several generations. By passing on to young people all the material wealth they had accumulated during their lives, they extended the fulfilment of their consciously chosen life mission into the years ahead. Even as their lives were nearing their end, they continued to provide financial assistance.
The beginning of 1990, with rampant inflation, threatened the existence of the scholarship fund. At that time, the account balance was approximately 400,000 złotys. Today, the scholarship fund amounts to approximately 50 million złotys held in the account of the School Parents’ Committee, thanks to the generosity of Bolesławiec workplaces and private individuals. Scholarships are paid from interest on the accumulated fixed-term deposits. There are many scholarship candidates, as many talented young people leave our school each year.
In the current school year, on the occasion of National Education Day and at the request of the Teachers’ Council, the Parents’ Committee—the administrator of the scholarship fund—awarded four scholarships worth 2 million złotys each to outstanding students and a graduate of the school: Mariusz Baran, Michał Małkowski, Tadeusz Orawec (students), and Krzysztof Matysiak (graduate).
The Parents’ Committee and the administration of the Władysław Broniewski Comprehensive School in Bolesławiec appeal for support for the Helena and Wincenty Tyrankiewicz school scholarship fund, addressing everyone who can—and above all, wishes to—help the school and its students, especially those with exceptional abilities.
