The extensive excavation work in the market square and adjacent streets has prompted various remarks and comments from residents and visiting guests. City President Józef Król explained to a representative of the editorial team of “Głos” that the disruption was caused by the need to lay gas pipes; at the same time, corroded rainwater drainage pipes are being replaced, along with other pipes and sewerage equipment wherever necessary.
The excavation work will be completed before winter arrives. The market square and adjacent streets will be connected to the gas supply, thanks to which the old town will be rid of the smoke and inconvenience associated with heating stoves and kitchen heating. Bringing in the gas and replacing the corroded pipes are the first stage in the modernization of our old town, which in the new year will receive a completely new appearance and will most probably become the city’s most charming corner.
