October 7, 1992, will go down in the history of Bolesławiec as the day when a “higher education institution” opened in our city. On that day, the formal opening of the Teacher Training College took place at the Teacher Training Institute.
The Superintendent of Education and Upbringing in Jelenia Góra, mgr inż. Andrzej Szustak, presented the appointment as director of the College to the former director of the Institute, dr Edmund Maliński. Wishing the College many successes, city mayor Józef Król presented, as an initial contribution, a cheque for PLN 25 million to equip the gymnasium. The Vice-Rector for Education of the Kotarbiński Higher School of Education in Zielona Góra, dr Idzikowski, formally matriculated the first-year students, presenting them with their student record books.
It should be emphasized that the Higher School of Education in Zielona Góra assumed educational patronage over the College, and the College students are simultaneously students of the Higher School of Education in Zielona Góra. The students’ ceremonial singing of “Gaudeamus Igitur” emphasized the significance of this important event. Twenty-one students began the first year of study at the three-year College. The inaugural lecture, “Ethics and the Strategy of Upbringing,” was delivered by Prof. dr Wojciech Pasternak. Prof. Pasternak will teach ethics at the College.
After three years of study, College graduates receive a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education and may continue their master’s studies at the Higher School of Education in Zielona Góra.
We wish the academic staff and students every success.
