At its session on 9 October, the Municipal Council adopted a resolution on the colours and design of the Bolesławiec flag.
The concept and two designs presented to the Municipal Council were created by Bolesławiec visual artist MIECZYSŁAW ŻOŁĄDŹ. Following discussion, the Council adopted a design depicting the city’s coat of arms against a three-colour background: gold, white and red. The design refers in its colours to heraldic colours and follows the convention of the six colours known in heraldry as tinctures.
The flag will serve the city during important state and municipal ceremonies; there is also a proposal to fly it from a flagpole by the town hall on such occasions.
The city flag was presented for the first time during the signing of a cooperation agreement with the city of Siegburg, from 15 to 18 October 1992.
