After several years of cooperation between the towns of Bolesławiec and Pirna (residents remember visits by ensembles to the "Bolesławiec Spring" festival, concerts by the Pirna Symphony Orchestra, exhibitions, football matches, etc.), the partner exchange and contacts were interrupted in recent years. This was caused by our political and economic transformations, as well as changes in the sphere of cultural activities.
There are indications, however, that cooperation will gain new momentum. In May, the Pirna Partnership Committee was established in Pirna. This committee asked the Mayor of Bolesławiec to establish a similar Cooperation Committee with Pirna. The Mayor of Bolesławiec established such a committee, chaired by mgr Zbigniew Samonek, director of MOSiR. Recently, an official delegation from Pirna came to Bolesławiec to establish and discuss forms of cooperation. In June, the "Bolesławiec" Song and Dance Ensemble performed in Pirna, and an exchange of youth groups on sightseeing trips is planned for the near future. We therefore practically have two partner towns in Germany for cooperation. We remind readers that an agreement on cooperation with Siegburg was signed in May.
